Memorial Day Weekend Wine Tasting Events 2022

Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday in May, a time many companies commemorate by offering employees a vacation day. This makes for a long weekend to connect with family and friends, and Mt. Hood Territory’s wineries have made a tradition of offering extended hours, discounts and special events on this significant weekend. 

1. Oswego Hills Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat-Mon 12-5pm

This fully functioning farm is a stand out in Lake Oswego, complete with a beautiful barn and fabulous views... not to mention high caliber wines from reislings to tempranillos. In addition they will have several new wine releases plus food and live music. Reservations are not required. 

2. St. Josef’s Winery

Memorial Sunday BBQ plus Bike Ride Sunday, May 29

Enjoy BBQ and live music n addition to their wines on the patio starting at 12 pm. A "non-serious" bike ride with the winemaker starts at the "crack of 11am" followed by lunch. The event is strictly "BYOB" or Bring your own bike.

3. Wooden Shoe Vineyards

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Daily 10am-4pm

Their newly renovated tasting room is the ideal place to relax and enjoy their estate-boutique wines, or wander around the event gardens and surrounding farm. Tip: Try their albariño, an unexpected varietal in Oregon that's grown mostly in Spain and Portugal (think dry, light and bright citrus notes). In late April, they introduced their 2020 albariño and 2019 sparkling albariño.

4. Campbell Lane Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat and Sun 12-5:30pm

This tenured vineyard and winery on Pete's Mountain offers views of the vineyard and even Mt. Hood from their dog friendly, outdoor patio. Throughout May, including Memorial Day Weekend, bring the pup or a human companion for a pinot gris or rosé of pinot noir flight special, the latter now including their newly released 2021 rosé from their new winemaker. For convenient wine to go, try a six-pack of their canned pinot gris for $36. 

5. Hanson Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat-Sun 12-5pm

Their tasting garden is both serene and beautiful, and the scenic drive out there makes for a lovely prelude to tasting their great array of wines. Even if you've visited before you'll want to make another trip, as they will be debuting several brand new wines including the 2021 pinot gris which they call "fantastic."

6. Buddha Kat Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Fri-Sun 12-3pm

At the base of Mt. Hood in Sandy, this boutique winery is the perfect place to stop and grab a bottle (or two) before heading up the mountain or back down when returning from your trip. 

7. Christopher Bridge

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Fri 2-5pm, Sat-Sun 12-5pm

With 11 wines to try, including 4 pinot noirs this Oregon City countryside vineyard is a great setting to experience tranquility. Tip: Taste the literal fruits of their Eastern European varietals program. 

8. Forest Edge Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat, Sun, Mon 12-5pm

This vineyard focuses on sustainability and, as the name suggests, backs up to a forest that makes the air smell a little sweeter while you taste one of their chardonnays. All of their wines will be available to sample, including some new creations they've been working on.  

9. Kings Raven Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend | 

Sweeping views of rolling hills, great wines and a half acre amphitheater where they regularly offer movie nights, yoga and concerts all make this 15 acre vineyard a fantastic stop! Visit on Saturday from 4-8pm for Sunset Happy Hour with live music and Altengartz German Sausages. On Sunday visit for Trucks In The Vineyard with local food trucks from 12-5pm. On Monday, On Tots food truck is back for some fun food and wine pairing from 12-5pm. 

10. Terra Vina Wines

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat-Mon, 12-6pm 

Join Terra Vina Wines at their vineyard's open air tasting room or large patio as they pour through the delicious big reds you love - Cab Franc, Malbec, Bordeaux blends and unique new releases. Barrel sample the 2021 vintage to secure future releases before anyone else. Reservations are highly recommended. Delicious seasonal dishes available for purchase from their on-site food truck. $20 per flight. Club members are complimentary. 

11. Tumwater Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sun 12-5:30pm

This winery boasts an elegant indoor and outdoor barrel house at the base of Pete's Mountain in West Linn with specialty pinot noirs and a fantastic atmosphere complete with timber frame tasting room and outdoor pond. 

12. Whiskey Hill Winery & Postlewait’s Vineyards

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Fri-Sun 12-4:30pm

Enjoy a tasting flight of estate grown, Willamette Valley wines on their immaculate grounds with your friends and family. Tip: Make sure to try their white pinot noir.

13. Boring Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Fri 3-8pm, Sat 12-8pm, Sun 12-6pm

With eight varietals to savor and a spacious outdoor patio area, this winery proves that the town of Boring is anything but. They will have their wines and beer along with pizza from Al Forno.

14. twill Cellars

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat-Sun 12:30-3:30pm by reservation only

Molly, their Bernese Mountain Dog, often greets guests at this European style tasting room in West Linn, offering southern Rhone inspired wine varietals including grenache and syrah, plus pinot noirs and gris. Their tasting patio is open Sat-Sun with reservations beginning at 12:30pm and their last seating of the day is 3:30pm.

15. Villa Catalana Cellars

Open Memorial Day Weekend | Sat 1-4pm by reservation only

Bring your lunch and enjoy the gardens filled with rare plants, while you sip on their wonderful wine varietals and gaze at the magnificent villa they built by hand with the help of YouTube videos. 

16. Beckham Estate Vineyard:

Open by appointment only

This vineyard is known for their amphora wines. Winemaker Andrew Beckham, an educated ceramicist, makes both the amphora wines and the nearly 1,000 amphora pots those wines are produced in. Their unique combination of wine and ceramic pottery that Beckham crafts on site makes for a unique experience.
