Memorial Day Weekend Wine Tasting Events

Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday in May, a time many companies commemorate by offering employees a vacation day. This makes for a long weekend to connect with family and friends, and Mt. Hood Territory’s wineries have made a tradition of offering extended hours, discounts and special events on this significant weekend. 

1. Alexeli Vineyard + Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

This family run vineyard in Molalla is right next to Alpacas at Marquam Hill Ranch so you can wave at the friendly alpacas before heading to the tasting patio to be the first to try AlexEli's release of their 2018 rose'!

2. Beckham Estate Vineyard:

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26, 11-5 pm.

This vineyard is known for their amphora wines. Winemaker Andrew Beckham, an educated ceramicist, makes both the amphora wines and the nearly 1,000 amphora pots those wines are produced in. Their unique combination of wine and ceramic pottery that Beckham crafts on site makes for a unique experience.

3. Boring Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24, 3-8 pm, Saturday, May 25, Noon-8 pm, Sunday, May 26, 12-6 pm.

With 8 varietals to savor and a spacious interior and exterior tasting area this winery proves that the town of Boring is anything but.

4. Buddha Kat Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday - Saturday, May 24 & 25, Sunday, May 26, 12-4 pm.

At the base of Mt. Hood in Sandy this boutique winery is the perfect place to stop and grab a bottle (or two) before heading up the mountain or back down when returning from your trip. 

5. Campbell Lane Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

This tenured vineyard and new winery on Pete's Mountain offers views of the vineyard and even Mt. Hood from their outdoor patio on a clear day, a distinctive solarium-style tasting room and is dog-friendly too!

6. Christopher Bridge

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24, 2-5 pm, Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

With 11 wines to try, including 4 Pinot noirs this Oregon City countryside vineyard is a great setting to experience tranquility. Tip: Taste the literal fruits of their Eastern European varietals program. 

7. Forest Edge Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

This vineyard focuses on sustainability and backs up to a forest that makes the air smell a little sweeter while you taste one of their chardonnay's. 

8. Hanson Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

A rustic tasting room balances sweetly with the garden outside, and the scenic drive out there makes for a lovely prelude to tasting their great array of wines. Try their Gamay noir, a wine growing in popularity throughout the Willamette Valley. 

9. Kings Raven Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

Sweeping views of rolling hills, great wines and a half-acre amphitheater where they regularly offer movie nights, yoga and concerts all make this 15-acre vineyard a fantastic stop!

10. Oswego Hills Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Monday, May 27, 12-5 pm.

This fully functioning farm is a stand out in Lake Oswego, complete with a beautiful barn and fabulous views... not to mention high caliber wines from reislings to tempranillos. 

11. St. Josef’s Winery

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Monday, May 27, 12-5 pm.

On Sunday, May 26, take part in their annual bike ride on the country roads of Canby, ending at the winery where you can enjoy BBQ, good music and the release of their new Gamay!  

12. Terra Vina Wines

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Monday, May 27, 12-5 pm.

Be the first to taste several new releases with cheese and bread to pair, and enjoy discounts on future new releases when purchased Memorial Day weekend.

13. Tumwater Vineyard

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5:30 pm.

This winery boasts an elegant indoor and outdoor barrel house at the base of Pete's Mountain in West Linn with specialty Pinot noirs and a fantastic atmosphere complete with timber frame tasting room and outdoor pond. 

14. Twill Cellars

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 1-5 pm.

Molly, their Bernese Mountain Dog, often greets guests at this European style tasting room in West Linn, offering southern Rhone inspired wine varietals including Grenache and Syrah, plus Pinot noirs and gris. 

15. Villa Catalana Cellars

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Saturday, May 25, 1-4 pm.

Bring your lunch and enjoy the gardens filled with rare plants, while you sip on their wonderful wine varietals and gaze at the magnificent villa they built by hand with the help of YouTube videos. 

16. Whiskey Hill Winery & Postlewait’s Vineyards

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26, 12-5 pm.

Enjoy a tasting flight of estate grown, Willamette Valley wines on their immaculate grounds with your friends and family. Tip: Make sure to try their white Pinot noir.

17. Wooden Shoe Vineyards

Open Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26, 10-5 pm.

Their newly renovated tasting room is the ideal place to relax and enjoy their estate-boutique wines, or wander around the event gardens and surrounding farm. Tip: Try their albarino, an unexpected varietal in Oregon that's grown mostly in Spain and Portugal (think dry, light and bright citrus notes).
