Spring events burst upon the scene with blooming flowers and baby farm animals galore. Summertime is filled with an abundance of outdoor activities, festivals, music events, and Farmers' Markets. Celebrate the fall bounty as local communities provide family fun harvest festivals, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and haunted trails. Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play explores the story of George Schneider, a writer navigating his recent widowhood, and Jennie Malone, a soap opera actress dealing with her recent split from a football player. Both characters face uncertainty about new relationships.
This workshop will introduce you to the vibrant world of natural pigments in our ecosystem. You’ll learn how to ethically forage pigments from rocks, plants, and bones — and transform them into any type of paint or ink. You’ll also learn about pigments as a way to creatively engage with ecological issues, including climate change. On the first day, you’ll learn basic pigment-making skills. On days 2 and 3, you’ll have the opportunity to deepen those skills and learn more advanced techniques in a guided and supported environment. You'll receive creative prompts to work on during and after the workshop to stimulate your imagination and expand your creative practice.
This course will include demonstrations, guided conversation, guided foraging outings, creative prompts, and time for individual and group reflection. You’ll leave with a shared palette sourced from Camp Colton's rich bioregion and the skills to continue this practice on your own.
