Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory, like much of the Pacific Northwest, is a paradise for those who love the outdoors. Beautiful scenery and favorable weather has us spending more time outdoors than in other destinations. However, even the temperate Pacific Northwest is susceptible to the occasional heat wave. Here are some good ways to keep cool when the mercury rises in Mt. Hood Territory.
The North Clackamas Aquatic Park is perfect spot to take the kids, or yourself, for a dip in refreshing waters. The pool has space and programs for lap swim, diving, aquatic exercise classes, swim lessons and the most popular spot, the Big Surf! wave pool.
Bullwinkle's in Wilsonville has a whole array of exciting, indoor options. Sure they have a ton of outdoor things to do as well, like the go karts, mini golf, and the "Soaring Eagle" zipline. And while the bumper boats may be an option if you don't mind getting splashed a little to stay cool, the indoor options are likely what you're looking for. "Lazerextreme" laser tag, bowling, a huge arcade, the "Kidopolis Playland" and the interactive "XD Dark Ride" will all keep you entertained and cool.
You still need to eat during a heatwave, right? Might as well accompany that with a nice cold beverage, and let someone else's kitchen heat up. Valley Public House in Clackamas is a food hall and taproom with an awesome menu of food plus cocktails, wine, cider and beer. What's really popular right now are their frozen drinks. The "Classic Frosé" along with Watermelon Margaritas and other sub-zero cocktails are perfect refreshments when it's hot outside. While those drinks will be nice and cool, don't forget to drink plenty of water too so you can stay hydrated!
Speaking of ice cold beverages, the breweries along the Mt. Hood Territory Tap Trail all have ice cold beer in comfy air conditioned tasting rooms. Here's a great opportunity to earn some stops on your way to the reward, sample some great local brews, and stay cool all at the same time.
