Get In The Christmas Spirit In Oregon City

With so much to do to get ready for the holiday season, wouldn't it be nice to be able to get everything accomplished in one place, allowing you to slow down and actually enjoy that Christmas spirit? Oregon City can provide that very experience.

Step 1: The Christmas Tree

Picking the perfect Christmas tree is one of the most important traditions many families have for the holidays. It just so happens that the countryside around Oregon City is filled with Christmas tree farms. After all, we grow more trees in Mt. Hood Territory than any other county in the U.S.!

Head over to Merrywood Farm where you'll find a literal forest of Christmas tree options. Once you get the perfect one, head back to the historic barn for a pony ride or to check out the Christmas diorama lovingly created with a different theme each year by the owners.

Springwater Road Farms is another great options to find that ideal tree. They have a fantastic selection of various tree species, not to mention million dollar views of Mt. Hood from the farm.

Not too far from Springwater Road Farms is a longtime favorite for many families, Historic Kirchem Farm. The land here has been farmed since 1890, so it's safe to say a lot of families have some history here. They have a wide variety of the most popular tree types to choose from, as you explore the scenic and historic grounds.

Step 2: The Shopping

Shopping can be one of the most stressful parts of the Christmas season. It feels like we're spending hours, if not more, driving all over the place trying to check everyone off our list. But you can get a lot of that done in downtown Oregon City, where you can explore local offerings while supporting small business.

White Rabbit Books and Gifts is a wonderful store filled with amazing books for the reader in your life, and a wide selection of fun and unique gift items like puzzles, bath and body items, home décor and so much more. It's safe to say you could knock of a fair portion of your list in this store alone.

We all know that one person who is obsessed with their plants; their home looks more like an arboretum than a house. Check them off your shopping list at Root + Stem Plants. This new shop on Main Street offers a tremendous selection of plants and plant care products, making for the perfect addition to that special someone's collection.

For the fashionista on your list, go to Pr3tty Society. They promise that women will find just what they need to feel and look happy, no matter their size or shape.

Just feet away from Oregon City's famous municipal elevator is You Can Leave Your Hat On. From something for every day wear to keep the head dry while still looking sharp to fun, festive chapeaus, this is one of the premiere hat stores around the Pacific Northwest.

Coin Corner and Hobbies is a family owned antique store filled with all sorts of things that will be perfect for the collector in your life. This store has some history, having been around since 1962. In fact they've been around so long that things that were new when they opened could now be sold here as antiques!

LiveEdge Eco Salon is a sustainable salon focusing on using natural, organic products and ensuring all steps of their work are sustainable. Inside you'll find a shop filled with all sorts of carefully curated "self care" items that are nourishing for the body and good for the environment.

Know someone who has an eye for fashion and the environment? Mary Rose Boutique is the perfect spot for them. Their carefully curated selection is comprised of clothing that is crafted from sustainable, earth friendly materials while thoughtfully carrying fashions for all shapes and sizes. Another great option in that realm is Refinery Boutique. They have the noble goal of increasing conscientious consumerism by shopping secondhand and consignment. You'll find a wonderful selection of high quality items and locally made jewelry you won't be seeing on everyone else. Consignment Revolution Boutique is another popular shop in that same vein. They specialize in high-end designer consignment, offering a second chance to fantastic pieces that still have a lot of life left in them.

Remember when the term "album sales" actually meant something? Oregon City Records does, and it still means something there too. Oregon City Records is like a link to the past, one of the few remaining locations to find vinyl records. The music lover in you life will certainly adore anything you find here!

Step 3: Enjoy the Season

Now that you've taken care of the "must dos," it's time to focus on the "want to dos," and that's enjoying this wonderful season. Sit back and relax at one of the inviting, locally owned restaurants and enjoy a delicious meal, a craft beverage and the festive holiday atmosphere.

Nebbiolo Restaurant & Wine Bar has a truly mouthwatering menu filled with wonderful small bites paired perfectly with a glass of wine or a full dinner fit for the biggest of appetites. The interior is always warm and welcoming, and it becomes even more so during the holiday season.

Oregon City Brewing is a popular spot year-round in Oregon City. To say they know craft beer would be an understatement; they excel at it. In fact, they were listed in the top ten breweries in the U.S. at the U.S. Open Beer Championship. So enjoy an award winning brew while taking in the holiday scenery from their outdoor dining area.

Sweet Masterpiece can actually serve two purposes for you. You can get some gifts for the sweets lover on your list, or just indulge your own sweet tooth after a day of shopping. With baked goods, chocolates and other decadent treats, this is a reward of the highest caliber.

Is there anything more inviting the a warm fire during the holiday season? Located next to the Clackamas County Courthouse, the very appropriately named Verdict Bar and Grill has an amazing outdoor dining area complete with fire pit tables. The environment is warm, and so is the seating! And Christmas is a great time to be outdoors on Oregon City's main street as you take in the lights and decorations.
