Where To See Cherry Blossoms Near Portland
Spring in Oregon is a vibe all its own. While Portland’s tree-lined waterfront comes to mind for many this time of year, here's the inside scoop: some of the most stunning cherry blossoms near Portland are tucked away in the charming communities of Mt. Hood Territory.
If you’re looking to bask in the petals without the crowds, head just south of the city to Lake Oswego and Wilsonville. Get ready to add these must-visit spots to your Oregon spring bucket list.
Located right on the edge of Lakewood Bay, Sundeleaf Plaza offers a serene, high-end backdrop for cherry blossom viewing. Named after the famed local architect Richard Sundeleaf, this urban park features beautiful white and pink blooms that frame views of the water. The park also offers lawn areas, outdoor seating, a fireplace and a rain garden.
The Vibe: Sophisticated and peaceful
Pro Tip: After snapping your photos, walk a few steps to Lake Theater & Cafe for a film, or grab a lakeside lunch of Pacific Northwest cuisine at Mann's on the Lake.
Just a short walk away from Sundeleaf, Millennium Plaza Park is the heart of downtown Lake Oswego. The cherry trees here line the brick-paved plaza, creating a snowfall of pink petals in late March and early April. It’s the perfect spot to experience Oregon cherry blossoms while staying close to the action. Note: As of March 18, 2026, the blossoms in Millennium Plaza haven't popped yet.
The Vibe: Elevated town square with water views
Shop & Dine: Browse the boutiques in Lakeview Village for tax-free shopping or treat yourself to a scoop and comfort food at the Lake Oswego Ice Creamery. There's also a number of wine bars and upscale restaurants within steps of each other — choose from Japanese, seafood or Neapolitan-style pizza, to name a few.
For a truly meaningful experience, head to Town Center Park in Wilsonville. These trees carry a beautiful history: they were gifted to the city by Kitakata, Japan (Wilsonville’s sister city) in 1998 to deepen understanding and friendship between the two cities.
The Vibe: Open, airy and rich in culture
Make a Day of It: Pay your respects at the Korean War Memorial located within the park. Afterward, head out to the lovely Wilsonville countryside for farm-to-table dining. Choose from restaurants, gourmet cooking classes and a charming farm store. Spring is also the perfect time to visit with baby animals at nearby farms.
