Jaja’s African Hair Braiding in Harlem is full of sharp, funny and talented women who make their clients look and feel “nice-nice.” One sweltering summer day, Jaja’s daughter Marie runs the salon while her mother readies for a green-card wedding. As Marie manages laugh-out-loud drama in the shop, unexpected news unites the stylists and clients, deepening their bonds and sense of belonging.

An evening of improvisation with groups Cat Cabinet and Mouth Stuff. Cat Cabinet is Ben Spoon, Krista Wright, Lisa Wheeler, and Trinton Tello. One scene. One family. No script, no stopping. Cat Cabinet peeks into the dynamics of a family not unlike your own — created entirely live, in real time, without breaks or edits. Expect humor, secrets, and the messy, beautiful truth of what it means to belong. Mouth Stuff is Lauren Long, Heather Riggs, Sawyer Hudson, Kristin Gregory, Krista Wright and Whitney Kemper. They will be performing Didn't We Do This Yesterday? a fully improvised narrative show inspired by the movie Groundhog Day. Will our hero ever learn their lesson, or will they be forced to repeat the same improv scenes over and over until the end of time?!

Monologic: Three true-life stories from cast members inspire three improvised tales, for a total of six separate but intertwined sagas created for you by some of Portland's most experienced veteran performers. Featuring: Tom Johnson, Kerry Leek, Aaron Keuter, Daryl Olson, Shelley Darcy, Amanda Folkestad, Tony Marcellino, Kyle Kohlman, Starr Ahrens, Chris Parsons Directed by Tom Johnson All ages welcome, though assume PG13 content. Improvisation is collaborative, unscripted theater where actors create stories, characters, and dialogue in real-time. Instead of relying on a written script, the performers build scenes spontaneously based on suggestions provided by the audience.
