New Adaptive Playground Opens At Concord Park
A brand-new inclusive playground has opened at Concord Park in the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) of Oak Grove near Milwaukie. Designed with accessibility, creativity and connection in mind, this playground is the first of its kind in the area — offering children and families of all abilities the chance to explore, imagine and play together.
The playground’s design blends nature-inspired features with modern adaptive elements. Kids can balance on logs, scramble across boulders and experiment with interactive water canals — all surrounded by lush landscaping that encourages curiosity and outdoor discovery. Every part of the playground was thoughtfully crafted to ensure accessibility and comfort for all users, including ADA-compliant pathways and rubber tile surfacing that make navigation easy for mobility devices.

The park includes a two-level tower with ramps.
Designed For All Abilities
At the heart of the playground is a two-level tower with accessible ramps, a roller slide and multiple play zones that invite adventure at every turn. Inclusive spinners, nest swings and sensory play components provide tactile and social experiences for children with diverse abilities. Adding to the park’s charm are imaginative animal sculptures, including a whimsical owl and a curious climbing turtle.
Located next to the Concord Community Center and the brand-new Oak Lodge Library, the park serves as a welcoming hub for families to gather, learn and connect. Whether you’re exploring the playground, enjoying a picnic or visiting nearby community spaces, Concord Park celebrates the joy of play — for everyone.
Inclusive Water Activities
North Clackamas Aquatic Park offers a Sensory Friendly Swim program which allows a calm and welcoming environment designed for swimmers who prefer a quieter, low-stimulation experience. Designed to support guests with sensory sensitivities or those seeking a peaceful swimming experience, the atmosphere features reduced noise levels, limited lighting and a smaller number of swimmers in a flat-water setting. Guests can enjoy the waterslides, dive well (without the diving board), kiddie pool, hot tub for ages 18 and up and the wave pool (with waves turned off). To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, all swimmers must have a responsible supervisor in the water with them. The program also includes thoughtful measures such as no background music, waves, whistles or speaker announcements, along with two designated quiet break rooms and additional staff support to assist as needed.
