Getting outside is therapeutic for the soul and being able to stay out where you are adventuring overnight is not only more convenient, its even more soul nourishing. There is nothing quite like sleeping under the stars and waking up to birds chirping and being surrounded by beautiful nature. But this isn't news to most, and in fact, weekend camp spots get secured so quickly around here that it gives the impression that you have no chance unless you book months in advance. However, midweek camp spots are the real hidden gem and luckily for you there are plenty of spots available. Here are just a few reasons why midweek camping in Mt. Hood Territory should be on your summer itinerary.
A key reason to camp midweek is more solitude. This means you'll have better views, less noise, more room to roam, more privacy and a better overall experience. Let's be real, who doesn't prefer less crowds... in every scenario? Another bonus, you'll have more one-on-one time with nature. There's something about trees that are intrinsically calming. The protection they provide, the sounds they make when the wind blows, the creatures they house and the shade they provide all welcome you to linger longer.
The list of places to stay really opens up when you book midweek. This is because most people try to save their vacation time and simply utilize the freebie weekend days to get away. And while that's completely understandable, last year alone more than 236 million hours of vacation not only went unused, they were completely forfeited by Americans... meaning all that saving up was for nothing! So use a few days to take a break and get your campsite for midweek.
The thing about weekend getaways is that everyone else has the same idea. Everyone is driving there and then heading home at the same time, making traffic a real drag. Going midweek however typically ensures a much easier commute to your chosen campsite.
