Explore Mt. Hood Territory’s 50 urban and rural parks, all within an hour’s drive or less from Portland and many are easy to reach by transit or bike. Bring your dogs, picnic, kids, friends. Play a game of disc golf or horseshoes, race about the playground, hear a concert, watch birds and wildlife, sniff and photograph flowers.

Located only minutes from downtown Portland are a rose garden, a Nature Conservancy wetland natural area, a park with extinct volcanoes, and a couple of Oregon’s only state parks within a major metropolitan area – Tryon Creek and Mary S. Young State Parks. In the rural valley and mountain areas are the scent- and tactile-oriented Oral Hull Park for the Blind, Milo McIver State Park with its hiker-biker campground, and Wildwood Recreation Area with accessible trails, boardwalks, and a below-stream viewing window.

More than simply day use, many of the Territory’s parks offer camping to base your swimming, boating, biking, hiking, fishing, BBQing, ghost story telling and smore-making adventures from.
