Fir Point Farms

It’s almost Halloween, which means it’s time to gather up the family and head out to a pumpkin patch to pick the perfect carving pumpkin. For many families, that spot is Fir Point Farms outside of Canby. After your first visit, it may become a tradition for your family too.

pumpkins Fir Point Farms Fir Point Farms is more than a pumpkin patch. They’re billed as “Your country escape” on their website, and that’s about as good an explanation as any. Everything about this amazing place hearkens back to simpler times when the food was wholesome and so was the fun. Inside they make delicious sandwiches, homemade soups and chilis and fresh backed goodies that make you close your eyes and sink back in your seat and melt as the warmth takes you back. No trip to Fir Point Farms is complete without eating at least one of their famous apple cider donuts. Although I’m not sure how you can eat just one, they are little rings of perfection. They make them fresh throughout the day. If you’ve never had a donuts fresh off the rack, let me tell you, you are in for a treat; it’s a mind blowing experience.

There’s plenty to see and do outside as well. The 6-acre corn maze will keep the kids (and directionally-challenged parents such as myself) lost for quite some time. There’s also tire swings, the nut house, a petting zoo paintball gallery a bounce house and several other fun activities. The best part is many of them are free. Owner Jessica says the idea behind Fir Point Farms is to give families a fun place to be together without breaking the bank. In today’s world, a chance for families to have some quality time while not hurting the budget is invaluable.

Fir Point Farms is open Tuesday’s through Sundays from 9 to 5. Bring the kids and your appetites, you’ll be glad you did.
