Big Independence Day celebrations

Molalla Buckeroo

Molalla Buckeroo

July 4th is a time to pull out all the stops as we celebrate our nation’s independence. While communities throughout Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory light up the night with some excellent fire works displays and fun, family-friendly events, two really bring down the house: the Molalla Buckeroo and the Estacada Timber Festival.

July 4th is actually the final day of the five-day Buckeroo, an event that has been running for more than 100 years in Molalla. The Buckeroo is about as cowboy as it gets, as men and women have been competing in traditional rodeo events here since 1913. Bareback riding, barrel racing, team roping and many other competitions will be held throughout the event at the Molalla Buckeroo rodeo grounds.

The schedule is chock-full of rodeo action, followed by live music and a truly spectacular fireworks show each evening. Add in street parades, the carnival, amazing food and a ton of vendors, and it’s a weekend’s worth of fun activity that is a perfect getaway for the family looking for a fun, different way to celebrate July 4.

Log rolling at Estacada Timber FestivalEstacada celebrates its heritage with the annual Timber Festival on July 4. Taking place at Timber Park on Highway 211, the festival honors the town’s logging history as contestants try their hand at a host of logging events, like log rolling, double bucking and tree pole climbing. There will also be a wide selection of vendors offering food, arts and crafts and all sorts of other unique items. Once the competition is done, a dazzling display of fireworks will light up the skies over the park. It’ll be a brilliant time, perfect family fun.
