Showcasing women photographers on International Womens Day

Jarrod Lyman | 03/07/2018 | Recreation

We're fortunate that so many amazingly talented photographers take outstanding photos of Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory and share those images with us on our various social channels. We love seeing the beauty of #omht through their lenses as they find fun and unique ways to showcase their shutter-snapping skills and keen eye for beauty. In commemoration of International Women's Day, where we celebrate the women who lead the struggle for women's rights, we wanted to acknowledge some of the most talented photographers we know, who also happen to be women.

Amanda Ulrich - amandapdxrunforcongo

Amanda is an avid photographer who captures daily life throughout Mt. Hood Territory and the Portland area. She finds beauty in the smallest, often overlooked details and in sweeping vistas. Her photos are always fun to see show up in our feed.

Jess Selig - jesspdx

Jess takes some of the most breathtaking images we have ever seen. Her photos always manage to capture the peace and tranquility of nature and fill you with a longing to be right where she is, experiencing that moment of beauty. A true explorer at heart, we love her iconic shots of Mt. Hood, but her Foggy Forest Friday photos are true works of art.

Trillium Lake

Alisha Golec - lishy

We've only become aware of Alisha's work in the past few months, but she's been out taking stellar shots of Mt. Hood Territory and beyond for long before that. Her shots from the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival are superb, and the photo from Jonsrud Viewpoint below is simply stunning. She captures the mood of a location in such detail, her photos are always a joy to see.

Melissa Jones - Rouxroamer

Melissa truly lives up to her username: Rouxroamer. She's a travel blogger who appears in most of her photos, always wearing red. She travels extensively, but we're lucky that she lives quite close to #omht, so we get the benefit of her local explorations. If her photos somehow don't inspire you to explore, her well-crafted stories will.

Ramona Falls

Nicolasa Kov - Pacifikov

Nicolasa is a master of catching amazing lighting. Her images have an almost ethereal, surreal quality to them that conjures feelings of looking at someone's dream. Which is very fitting, because we think being here is a dream, so that totally works for us.

Oregon City and Mount Hood

Cheri Cummins - Cheritart

Cheri is a wonderfully talented photographer and lucky for us, she lives in the western regions of Mt. Hood Territory. That, combined with her photographic skills, allows her to capture some of the most breathtaking sunrises we've ever seen from various vantage points around the scenic Pete's Mountain area of West Linn. When we see her show up in our feed, we know it's going to be a great photo.

Lacy Foy - mountaingingerly

Lacy is truly an adventurous explorer, and lucky for us she takes her camera with her everywhere she goes to showcase awesome photos. We didn't think it would be possible to make the region show even better in photography, but the inclusion of her simply adorable golden retriever named Ginger in many of her photos managed to do just that. We want to meet the dog, by the way...just saying.

Becky Fajardo - be_faja

Becky is another photographer who has taken her considerable talent all over the world. Fortunately she lives here in Oregon so Mt. Hood Territory is often the subject of her photography. She has a wonderful selection of shots, from playing with long exposure to capturing perfect sunrises and sunsets.

Alexborsuk - Alex Borsuk

If you're looking for someone with an adventurous spirit, then Alex Borsuk is who you want to meet. And fortunately she takes a camera along on her journeys, taking amazing photos so the rest of us can experience just a little bit of what she sees when she's out exploring her surroundings.

Amymichelle4 - Amy McCavour

We love it when a photographer is able to showcase iconic spots in Mt. Hood Territory in new ways. Amy McCavour does just that. Her entire gallery is comprised of stunning shots from throughout our region and beyond. One of the underappreciated skills in photography is knowing how to be in the right place at the right time. Amy has mastered that, capturing some of the most breathtaking moments with perfect lighting at well-known spots we have ever seen.

These photographers are some of the most talented artists we've ever had the pleasure of viewing, and are honored they share their work with us through their social channels. We count ourselves lucky that they choose #omht to showcase their considerable talents. Thank you!
