Saddle Up Your Horses In Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory

Saddle up for some incredible horseback riding at farms, along trails or in the wilderness in Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory. With horse trails in Table Rock Wilderness, Mt. Hood National Forest, Molalla River Recreation Corridor, Milo McIver and Tryon Creek State Parks, it may be hard to choose your favorite spot—but why not try, right? You could also go for a trot or canter at one of many indoor or outdoor riding arenas and explore the farmland acreage on horseback along equestrian center trails.

If you’re looking for a trail ride, a Hunter-Jumper event or quick lessons, Oregon Horse Council can connect you to the right place to do whatever you want on horseback. If you’re interests are focused on Mt. Hood National Forest, get in touch with the Zigzag Ranger District for information and access to horseback riding trails.

Mt. Hood Center in Boring is a sprawling equestrian and event facility with a championship-quality trail course. The location has a long history within the horse community, and the latest owners are honoring that in several ways, including restoring the historic horse barn with more than 70 stalls.

A number of equestrian centers provide horseback riding lessons, horse camps, and youth summer riding camps. Most have indoor and outdoor riding arenas so you can be on a horse any time of the year. And if you’re interested in having horses be a part of your special day, many locations are happy to work with you on parties and events.

May through October, ride into Joe Graham Horse Camp near Timothy Lake at 3,400’, outfitted with corrals and hitching posts. Find your way to Riley Horse Camp on the western flanks of Mt. Hood with corrals and bridle trails near the Wild and Scenic Sandy River on Lost Creek.

Whatever you choose, you won’t regret riding through Mt. Hood Territory with a majestic horse to guide you. Of course, you’ll need a place to stay if you want to turn it into an extended weekend. Check out our wide selection of lodging properties ranging from hotels to bed and breakfasts and vacation rentals.
