If you're anything like me you ended last year a few pounds heavier thanks to all the delicious holiday goodies. Don't feel bad, it's the time of year it's supposed to happen. Enjoy it!
That said, if you're ready to start the new year swinging, then Renew Juice Co. in West Linn is a great way to start that ball rolling. I visited there to learn about their fresh pressed juices, smoothies, bowls and juice cleanses.
We took our camera behind the counter to see how it's done, and I got to help make the "Very Green" juice. And by help I mean I got to squish things into the juice press, because I wouldn't trust me with a knife either. The Very Green contains spinach, parsley, romaine, celery as well as some lemon and green apple. I'll be honest, I'm not the healthiest eater but I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this thing. Who knew eating healthy and yummy could be a possibility? They even have wellness shots for daily maintenance or if you feel a bug coming on. And their newest menu addition is the ever popular millennial favorite, avocado toast.
If you want to take things to the next level, they've also got cleanses through well-known health food nutrition coach Kristen Blake. These cleanses are created for their nutrient density, low glycemic index qualities, and help kick start a change to a healthy style. Or reboot your system after the Holiday rush.
Renew Juice Co. is located in the Historic Willamette District of West Linn. They're open seven days a week from 8 am to 5 pm.
In the neighboring town of Lake Oswego is the establishment Canteen, whose mission is to establish new American staples in your diet. Using fresh, local ingredients to make their juices, bowls and shots, they come up with creations that are as delicious as they are healthy. With people often coming down with cold and flues this time of year, their "Flu Slayer" or "Immune Booster" hot drinks sound especially appealing.
Canteen is located inside the 365 by Whole Foods Market on State Street. They're open seven days a week from 8 am to 7 pm.
