Oregon City, OR – Clackamas Heritage Partners is the recipient of a $12,000 grant from the John R. Gatewood & Mary Z. Gatewood Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation to support a third year of funding for education and volunteer program development. The mission of CHP is “to preserve the heritage, educate the public, and interpret the history of the Oregon Territory, Clackamas County, and Oregon – the western terminus of the Oregon Trail.”
OCF’s Senior Program Officer, Jeff Anderson, stated that "Clackamas Heritage Partners' work over the past three years aligning historic organizations and tourism officials has helped to strengthen school partnerships, accelerate development of on-line information, and increase volunteer opportunities and training. OCF is pleased to play a
role in expanding heritage-related resources for thousands of Clackamas County visitors, students, and residents. We encourage the community to step up with more local support for this promising model of coordination."
The Oregon Community Foundation, established in 1973, has managed charitable funds donated by individuals, families, and businesses to enhance and support the quality of life in their communities. Today, the Foundation’s endowment consists of over 1400 funds with combined assets of $1 billion.
The Foundation makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the Foundation’s Portland office. Individuals or businesses interested in establishing a fund may contact the Portland office at 1221 SW Yamhill, Suite 100, Portland OR 97205, 503-227-6846.
