Mmmmm. February means hot chocolate by the fire when it's chilly outside, and a perfect excuse to be pampered for hardly any reason at all. Just minutes from downtown Portland, the Lake Oswego Hilton Garden Inn improves on this notion by extending their Sweetheart Package way past Valentine's Day. They provide everything you need to relax and have a memorable evening that includes
a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates, red rose and breakfast for two. Now if we could just get a foot massage included, life would be perfect. Take in an afternoon in nearby Oregon Wine Country or tee up a little friendly competition during Langdon Farms Golf Course special twilight rates. Check out the complete listing of our Great Winter Getaways for more ideas to treat yourself to a spa package, romance your sweetheart, or just get away with the family for some post-holiday R&R. |

We're here to help you find the perfect spot to suit your latte needs. It's no secret that two of the most important factors in a great cup of java are the brewing temperature and the quality of the water. But a happening coffee house can have so much more! Here are a unique half-dozen, each with its own caffeinated twist:
Bullseye Coffee Company in West Linn knits together coffee-drinking and your favorite yarn project.
Chuck's Place in Lake Oswego specializes in cookies with coffee, proving it is never too early for dessert.
Crossroads Coffee Café in Gladstone sings out with regular live entertainment and now - pizza.
Mt. Hood Roasters Coffee Company invites you to stop by to browse their beans or to partake in an impromptu roasting class.
Oak Grove Coffee House acts as a gallery for local artists, as well as a gathering place for a diverse crowd.
Singer Hill Café in Oregon City combines killer coffee with a Demonstration Garden, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) sister-business, and a budding food club. Clearly, action-central.

Earlier this week National Geographic launched the eighth GeoTourism MapGuide in the world, The Central Cascades. The map spans from Mt. Rainer National Park in Washington to Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.
This makes Mt. Hood Territory's own backyard the focus of this heady project. Geotourism has at its heart place-based tourism; that is, "tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place - its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents." The creative process for the map began with over 1,100 nominations made by local residents who shared some of their own authentically dear places. A diverse stewardship alliance then distilled those stories into the beautiful printed piece that is now available. Appropriately enough, Timberline Lodge played host to the Oregon unveiling with its classic flair, and community members from around the Territory showed up to help share in the excitement. I encourage you to take a look at the online version, and to take the Sustainable Travel Tips to heart, as you explore for yourself some of our Festivals and Events, small town murals and backwoods Hot Springs. Ask for a free copy of the Central Cascades MapGuide at our local Visitor Information Centers to guide your geotourism explorations.
